‘Hard to judge Balotelli deal’

Massimo Oddo believes there could be many reasons taken into Milan’s consideration, in selling Mario Balotelli to Liverpool.

Massimo Oddo believes there could be many reasons taken into Milan’s consideration, in selling Mario Balotelli to Liverpool.

The Rossoneri are reported to have agreed a €20m deal with the Reds for the 24-year-old, despite his goals scored in 18 months at San Siro.

For one former Milan man, there may be many reasons as to why the club are considering the Italy international’s exit.

“These decisions are down the club – evidently the economic advantages outweigh the technical disadvantages, or at least that is what the club believes,” Oddo has told Tuttomercatoweb today.

“It is difficult to judge whether the operation can be advantageous or not for Milan, because it is not only about technical matters.

“We need to see if the player was motivated to stay, if his behaviour was in line with the requirements of the club, the economic benefits.

“In short, it is difficult to make a judgement exclusively on technical aspects.”

Oddo was asked if he felt Pippo Inzaghi has his say in the potential sale.

“Of course, the Coach counts very much, the conditions were such at the time of his signing with Milan.

“If Balotelli is to be sold, clearly for Inzaghi he was not perfectly suited to his formation.

“Now I expect Pazzini to have ample space and to be the starter in a 4-3-3, where I think he can do very well, especially with the eventual arrival of Alessio Cerci.”
