The Bianconeri lost their fourth match in 10 Serie A games last night, going down 1-0 at Sassuolo, while the Partenopei won their fifth game in a row.
“I don’t think Juventus are out of contention,” Hamsik considered in an interview with Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.
“I don’t think so, but right now they’re behind and that’s good for us. Roma have a great team too. You need consistency to win the Scudetto, and we’re showing that.
“The important thing is to stay close to the top. We’re having fun, as are the fans.
“Can we win it? I don’t know, we’re enjoying the moment. We’ve had 10 games, we’ll talk about it after 30 if the situation is still the same.
“Myself, [Coach Maurizio] Sarri and everyone else thinks that way, now we’re thinking about the next game. We’re preparing for the game with Genoa, it won’t be easy.”
Gonzalo Higuain has 10 goals and two assists in 13 games for the club this season, is he the best striker in the world right now?
“Looking at the numbers, I think so. He’s calm, he can do everything and he also helps us a lot. He really is a superstar.”
The Vesuviani reached the Europa League semi-final last season, and the Slovakian international admits they’re keen to go one better this term.
“Yes, we want to try again after missing out on the final last year,” Hamsik confirmed.
