Hamsik apologises to Napoli fans

Marek Hamsik says Napoli “left our souls on the pitch” against Besiktas, but apologises to fans for the defeat.

The Partenopei went down 3-2 at home in the Champions League last night, meaning they have now lost three games in a row.

“We put everything out there on the pitch, we left our souls on the pitch but on Wednesday it wasn’t enough,” Hamsik wrote on his official website.

“We managed to get ourselves back into the game twice, but we had no time to respond to their third goal. That can happen in football.

“We’re in a bad period, every mistake is being punished and the results aren’t coming. We’re sorry we disappointed our fans against Besiktas again, we need to keep working hard to stop this embarrassing run.

“We believe we can get back to winning ways on Sunday against Crotone.”
