The 33-year-old midfielder, who moved to Chinese Super League side DL Yifang in February 2019, returned to Europe when he joined Swedish side IFK Göteborg in March.
The former Partenopei star has played three times in Allsvenskan and spoke to the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet about his thoughts on the patron in Naples.
“We always had a good relationship with him,” Hamsik told Aftonbladet. “He brought great football back to Naples after the years in Serie B.
“Now, the club is back at the top, they went to the Champions League.
“The President has done a great job; Napoli have no money problems, and everything is fine. This is how things should be managed.”
Hamsik spent 12 years at Castel Volturno and played 520 games for the Azzurri, scoring 121 goals and contributing 100 assists in the process.
He helped the club win the Coppa Italia in 2011-12 and 2013-14, whilst he lifted the Supercoppa Italiana in 2014-15.
Napoli currently sit fifth in Serie A, two points behind Atalanta, Juventus and Milan, who are all battling for a place in the top four this season.
