Halilhodzic quits Algeria post

Vahid Halilhodzic is no longer the Coach of Algeria and is likely to take over at Trabzonspor.

The tactician took the Desert Foxes to the Round of 16 for the first time in their World Cup history.

He released a statement on the Algerian Federation website thanking “the players, members of the technical, medical and administrative staff who assisted me throughout my mission.

“I will always keep fond memories of the extraordinary hospitality of the Algerian public, who supported me from the first day I arrived and remained faithful.”

However, the Bosnian tactician added he would “never forget and never forgive” members of “certain media who attacked me and my family.

“Today, after living in Algeria for three years, my family obligations and the lure of new sporting challenges weighed heavily on my decision.

“I leave proud of my record and in accordance with the FAF.”

It is reported Halilhodzic will take over at Turkish club Trabzonspor instead.
