Guingamp players Lionel Mathis and Jeremy Pied see tomorrow’s Europa League clash with Fiorentina as “David and Goliath.”
They begin the group phase at the Stadio Artemio Franchi on Thursday at 20.05 UK time (19.05 GMT).
“Fiorentina are a great side, so it’s basically like David and Goliath,” said midfielder Mathis in a Press conference.
“Having said that, we do not fear anyone when we step on to the pitch. It is a pleasure for us to play against a side like the Viola, with players such as Aquilani and Cuadrado.
“We might not have world class players, but we base our success on the group.”
Teammate Pied agreed that EA Guingamp were fired up after a Ligue 1 victory over Bordeaux.
“I can say we will play compact and united. We’ll give our all and play this game with great pleasure.”
The French side are without full-back Lars Jacobsen, midfielder Younousse Sankharé, Reynald Lemaître and Laurent Dos Santos.
