Fiorentina team manager and caretaker Coach Vincenzo Guerini warned of a revolution. “I doubt more than four players will remain.”
The Viola had a dismal campaign with Sinisa Mihajlovic and Delio Rossi sacked, then narrowly avoiding relegation.
“I doubt more than four players will remain next season. This team has to be revolutionised,” Guerini told Brescia Oggi.
“Right from the start this side had within it the possibility of a disastrous season. Too many players were unhappy, coming to the end of their contracts or just lacking enthusiasm.
“Rossi arrived, who is a maestro of football. We thought he could change the direction of the squad, but in January three strikers left. Despite it all, this isn’t a bad team, but the problems that needed resolving were too complex.”
There are also big changes behind the scenes, as director of sport Pantaleo Corvino confirmed his exit and Guerini’s contract also expires in June.
“First of all, the club has to choose a new director of sport and a new Coach. I was told to relax and I am calm because I think I did a good job. I have total faith in this club.
“The team went badly – really badly – but the Della Valle family always stayed close and ensured nothing was lacking.”
