Fabio Grosso is the Juventus youth team Coach and advised his club on how to face Lyon in the Europa League.

The 2006 World Cup winner had a two-year spell at the French side and returned to Serie A for the Bianconeri in 2009.

“They were two fantastic years. I had a great time at the club and hold fond memories of the experience,” Grosso told Juventus.com.

“I must admit I got excited when I saw the draw, two teams that are important to me will be facing each other. I’m part of Juventus and will always have Lyon in my heart. I’ve got many friends there and enjoyed a fantastic experience.”

The former left-back, who recently became the Primavera youth team Coach in the Juve academy, won the League and domestic cup double in his first year at Lyon.

“I was lucky enough to play with world class talents like Juninho Pernambucano, Benzema, Keita and Toulalan.

“There are a couple of players who were youngsters when I was there and have subsequently managed to break into the first team. The club works very well, they’re serious and passionate about what they do.”

The first leg of the Europa League quarter-final is at the Stade de Gerland on April 3 with the decider in Turin on April 10.

“It’s a nice stadium and a pleasure to play there. The support is passionate, but always sporting and fair. It will be an enjoyable celebration of sport,” added Grosso.

“They will be two difficult games, but Juventus are aware of their strengths and possess the quality to give anyone a tough time. I’m convinced we’ll see two great matches.”
