COVID-19 cases continue to rise, but FIGC President Gabriele Gravina insists ‘the protocol works and there’s no risk’ to the Serie A season.
Over the last 24 hours, two top flight coaches have tested positive, namely Stefano Pioli of Milan and Torino boss Marco Giampaolo.
Italy tactician Roberto Mancini is also in quarantine, so assistant manager Alberico Evani will be on the touchline for tonight’s Nations League match with Poland.

Italy tactician Roberto Mancini is also in quarantine, so assistant manager Alberico Evani will be on the touchline for tonight’s Nations League match with Poland.
“There is no risk of having to suspend the season, as the protocol works and we will stick by it to the end,” Gravina told Sky Sport Italia.
“I realise it’s not easy, but we have to grit our teeth, hang in there and keep going. This is a complicated situation and we must try to make the most of it.”
Inter director Beppe Marotta complained there are too many games and clubs should be able to refuse their players for international duty.
“I don’t think that’s true, because after this, the national teams won’t get together again until March,” continued the Federation President.
Italy are unbeaten in over two years under Mancini and already guaranteed top seed status for the 2022 World Cup qualifying draw.
“Of course we want to extend his contract and we’re waiting for news.”
