The striker was stretchered off during the Viola’s 1-1 draw with Cagliari on Sunday and diagnosed with a partially torn collateral medial knee ligament.
“First of all, I want to thank you for your great support, even directly during the game on Sunday,” wrote Gomez on Facebook.
“I am happy that the cruciate ligament was not damaged and it is ‘only’ the other ligament that has problems. Therefore I was fortunate.
“It’s all water under the bridge, as now I want to heal as quickly as possible so I can get back in shape.
“With our super fans I will support the team over the next few weeks and I’m sure the lads will play to their best. Forza Viola! Your Mario.”
