Diego Godin has confirmed that he will leave Atletico Madrid this summer ahead of joining Inter.
Godin announced his exit at a special Press conference on Tuesday, and while he did not mention Inter, he admitted he could not agree terms on a new contract with Atleti.
“I met the club several times to discuss my renewal, but it’s clear that we didn’t find an agreement,” he said.

“The most beautiful adventure of my career and life ends. I’m proud to be in Atletico Madrid’s history and I want to thank everyone once again.”
The Uruguayan ends his spell at Wanda Metropolitano with almost 400 appearances, a Liga title, two Europa Leagues and a Copa del Rey.
He is expected to sign for Inter on July 1, becoming the club’s highest earner on a deal worth up to €6.75m per season.
