Former Milan, Fiorentina and Italy striker Alberto Gilardino has been named the new Coach of Serie C side Pro Vercelli.
The managerial role marks Gilardino’s first with a League club.
The 37-year-old retired from football last September to focus on coaching and led Serie D outfit Rezzato to a fourth-place finish, although they lost 4-2 to Pro Sesto in the promotion playoffs.
Pro Vercelli, for their part, are one of Italy’s most successful teams, winning seven top-flight titles between 1908 and 1922.
