‘Gervinho ready to return’

Gervinho is ready to return for Roma against Torino, Coach Rudi Garcia confirms.

The winger has not played since the derby victory over Lazio, the last time the Giallorossi won a game.

“I’m only thinking about the game tomorrow,” Garcia told reporters in his pre-match Press conference.

“The rest doesn’t interest me. We have to give everything for tomorrow. Gervinho is healed. [Leandro] Castan is ready, anyone who isn’t ready is in the infirmary.

“We’re missing [Francesco] Totti and [Mohamed] Salah, we have Maicon suspended, in addition to the long-term injuries.

“I want our minds to be 100 per cent on the game tomorrow.

“Castan? He’s improved so much, it’s not like you can miss a season and immediately find yourself at 100 per cent when you come back.

“He’s motivated, you know what I think about the man, and he’s slowly coming back to his best. It’s difficult to comment on him against Atalanta, we had a bad game, so I’m not singling out anyone in particular.

“I expect everyone to give everything, to fight and be combative and this will help us concede fewer goals and continue to score them.

“We have to do better in defence.”

Goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny was dropped in favour of Morgan De Sanctis for the Atalanta game, after reports he was caught smoking following the 6-1 defeat to Barcelona, and Garcia isn’t revealing who will play tomorrow.

“Tomorrow there will be a goalkeeper. We have two good goalkeepers with different characteristics.  I have total confidence in both Morgan De Sanctis and Wojciech Szczesny, that’s all I can say.

“Obviously we know we all have to be at our absolute best to get a result. There isn’t one particular choice.”
