Gervinho is different, explains Garcia

Roma boss Rudi Garcia has explained why he wanted the club to sign Gervinho from Premiership giants Arsenal.

The Ivory Coast international is now in the Italian capital after a deal was agreed between the two parties for the forward.

Roma boss Rudi Garcia has explained why he wanted the club to sign Gervinho from Premiership giants Arsenal.

The Ivory Coast international is now in the Italian capital after a deal was agreed between the two parties for the forward.

“I’m happy with his signing, as I was happy with the captures of Morgan De Sanctis and Kevin Strootman,” the Frenchman noted.

“Gervinho is a quick player, he’s good at going deep and he has different characteristics to other players.”

Garcia knows the 26-year-old well given that he bossed him with success while in charge of Ligue 1 outfit Lille.

Roma have yet to officially register the player as they firstly need to free up a non-EU spot in their squad.

That should be created by selling 32-year-old Brazilian Babù, who was surprisingly netted from Paganese on Tuesday.
