Genoa: Maran out, Thiago Motta in?

Thiago Motta is reported to be one of the candidates for the Genoa job if Rolando Maran will be sacked.

Genoa play away at Fiorentina this evening with both teams sitting low down in the Serie A table.

The Grifone have five points after nine games and a win would allow them to reach Fiorentina and escape the relegation zone.

If, however, Genoa lose at the Artemio Franchi Maran could be sacked with Thiago Motta coming in to replace him, reports Tuttosport.

The 38-years-old is not the only candidate for the role.

The former Italy midfielder is also being linked with the PSG job and had already coached Genoa in 2019 but his spell was anything but successful.

Thiago Motta replaced Aurelio Andreazzoli in October but did only win one of his nine games in charge of the Rossoblu. He was sacked on December 28 with Genoa sitting at the bottom of the Serie A table.
