Genoa look at Giuseppe Rossi

Genoa could snap up Italy starlet Giuseppe Rossi during his injury nightmare after the Villarreal price-tag plummeted.

The striker was commanding bids of around €30m before snapping the same knee ligament twice in six months.

It means Rossi will miss Euro 2012 and be out of action until at least March, while Villarreal’s relegation from La Liga has put them in a very difficult position too.

This week Rossi’s agent suggested Italian clubs should make a move now as “an investment” for the future and it seems as if Genoa are taking advantage of that situation.

They would give him the time and space to rediscover his fitness in Serie A, while also preparing him for a move to a bigger club in future.

The only problem would be the €3.5m per season wages he currently earns at Villarreal.
