According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini is among the candidates for the Napoli job alongside Antonio Conte, Vincenzo Italiano and Stefano Pioli.

The Partenopei will change coach again in the summer after choosing three different managers during the 2023-24 campaign and according to Il Corriere dello Sport, Atalanta’s Gasperini is among the candidates for the job.

Multiple sources claim Conte is Aurelio De Laurentiis’ first option, while the most feasible target is Fiorentina’s Italiano, who is expected to leave the Stadio Franchi at the end of the season.

Why Napoli want Gasperini

However, the Rome-based paper says Gasperini’s convincing results in Bergamo, including a 3-0 win over Liverpool on Thursday, make him a solid candidate for the Napoli job.

Il Corriere dello Sport claims Gasp was already close to joining Napoli in 2011. He had met De Laurentiis, who had even offered him a contract, but Napoli eventually dropped the Grugliasco-born coach, picking Walter Mazzarri instead.

According to the report, Gasperini’s playing style and his ability to develop young players make him an interesting profile for ADL.

Napoli currently sith 8th in the Serie A table, level in 49 points with Lazio.
