Adriano Galliani says Milan “wanted to continue” with Sinisa Mihajlovic, but appointed Cristian Brocchi for the good of the club.
The Serbian Coach was sacked yesterday morning, with Primavera Coach Brocchi appointed in his stead.
“There were talks with the President [Silvio Berlusconi] which led to the club making this decision,” Galliani said in the Press conference to present Brocchi.

“There were talks with the President [Silvio Berlusconi] which led to the club making this decision,” Galliani said in the Press conference to present Brocchi.
“We assessed the last period, from the defeat at Sassuolo onward and we arrived at this decision. We didn’t contact any other Coach, we hoped to get to the end of the season with Mihajlovic.
“No Coach can say they were contacted by Milan. All decisions are made by President Berlusconi and myself, they’re all shared.
“It’s something that President Berlusconi and I talk about. Each has his say, and we come to a joint decision. The club is one, we’re all on the same side.
“There’s dialogue with the President, but when we make a decision it’s shared. We’ve identified Brocchi as the right man to shake-up and improve Milan’s play.
“Mihajlovic did a good job, we’re sixth and in the final of the Coppa Italia, but we thought we needed something else now.
“We looked at the last five results and we decided to promoted the Primavera Coach as, for example Lazio have done.
“Hopefully on Sunday night against Sampdoria, Brocchi can get the same result that [Lazio’s Simone] Inzaghi got at Palermo.”
The Rossoneri fans have not reacted well to the change on the bench, but Galliani is sure the right decision has been made.
“I’m sorry that the choices made by the club for the good of Milan haven’t found favour with the fans.
“Those who lead the club have a duty to make the best decisions for the good of the club. The important thing is getting results, everything in football comes down to that.
“If the results come, everything is perfect, they’re all that matters.
“We’re convinced that this choice, even if it’s not shared by all, can be good for Milan.”
Is Brocchi’s two-month contract a sign that the club hierarchy doesn’t really have faith in him?
“We all want Brocchi to be the Coach of the Milan first team, and we believe he will be,” Galliani insisted.
“If things don’t work out, Cristian will remain at Milan as the Primavera Coach. No problem.”
