Torres is in the stands at San Siro and Chelsea midfielder Marco van Ginkel is en route to Italy for his medical in another loan deal.

“I think it was absolutely an important transfer campaign,” said Galliani.

“We brought in a great goalkeeper in Diego Lopez, two players from PSG plus Michael Agazzi and Albertazzi.

“I met with Torres’ agent yesterday and it took us eight hours to agree economic terms. For the last three days I’ve spent practically every minute on the phone!”

When asked what was expected of new Coach Pippo Inzaghi, Galliani was clear.

“Milan must try to get into the top three, not outside of that zone.”
