Galliani: ’Balotelli wants Milan stay’

Adriano Galliani says Mario Balotelli has “a crazy desire” to stay at Milan.

The striker is on-loan from Liverpool, but has missed most of the season with a sports hernia.

Following his return, the Italian international has struggled to break into the team, but the Rossoneri’s joint-CEO confirms that Super Mario wants to stay.

“Mario is fine now,” Galliani told reporters in Milan.

“He has a crazy desire to stay at Milan, and I hope he proves it on the pitch. Mario wants to stay here, but I’ve told him that based on what he’s done so far, he doesn’t deserve to stay here.

“I told him to convince us to keep him here, because we love him. He promised that he’ll do that, and I hope he does.”

The Diavolo face Juventus at the weekend in their hunt for a European place, but will be guaranteed Europa League football if they beat them in the Coppa Italia final.

“If they win the Scudetto there will be a third chance after Saturday and the Coppa Italia final, the Supercoppa Italiana.

“At the moment we’re only thinking about the first, we can’t rely on the Russian roulette of the final, we have to try and get into Europe through the League.

“We have to try and make up the points we’ve dropped in recent games.”

Milan have a number of absences in midfield, and it has been suggested that 18-year-old Manuel Locatelli could make his debut against the Bianconeri.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if he makes his debut,” Galliani confirmed.

“We have [Riccardo] Montolivo injured, [Andrea] Bertolacci is suspended, so the Coach [Sinisa Mihajlovic] can only choose between him, [Jose] Mauri and [Andrea] Poli.

“If players are part of the squad, it means they can play for Milan.”
