“It’s an important and difficult match against a strong team, who we are studying carefully this week, and who have impressive individual talents,” Gagliardini told Sky Sport Italia.
“We have to prepare well and do exactly what the coach asks. Perhaps Shakhtar have more technically-gifted forwards than Leverkusen did, very quick, and they can cause problems. They’re strong at the back, but we know how to make life difficult for them on Monday.
“These are all one-off matches, so we have to treat them as such. It’s been a long time since Inter played games like this, but we have everything it takes to go all the way.
“Besides, the coach lives every match like a Final anyway, so we are preparing with real determination.”
Inter watched Gagliardini’s former club Atalanta come so close to the Champions League semi-final, only to concede two goals in stoppages against PSG.
“It’s so disappointing, because we really had the game in hand. It was a great season, but this is further proof you have to stay totally concentrated to the last second and never ease off.”
