Fulham in pursuit of Fiorentina defender Igor – report

Fulham are reportedly ‘pushing’ to sign Fiorentina centre-back Igor this transfer window according to reports from Gianluca Di Marzio, with the player having expressed an interest in leaving Tuscany this summer.

Igor’s agent, Marcelo Mascagni, recently confirmed in an interview with Violanews.com that his client has a ‘desire to leave this summer’ and that ‘the Viola club also agrees,’ seemingly opening the door to an exit in the coming weeks.

The Brazilian is contracted to Fiorentina until the summer of 2024, with the club retaining the option to extend that deal by a further year.

However, at the risk of losing him for free next summer, a move this summer would make sense for both parties.

Igor has been an important part of Vincenzo Italiano’s plans this year, racking up 42 appearances across all competitions in a season that culminated in a Coppa Italia and Conference League final appearance for Fiorentina.

At the time of writing, Fulham, who finished this season in 10th place in the Premier League, appear to be leading the race to land the former SPAL defender’s signature.
