Milan centre-back Malick Thiaw is expected to return to action against Monza in less than two weeks, giving a much-needed boost to the Rossoneri who have already conceded 27 goals this season.
Thursday’s printed edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport on page 10 highlights how the Rossoneri have been struggling defensively this season, conceding 27 goals in just 23 Serie A games.
‘Milan are defenceless and fragile,’ was the title of the pink paper on Thursday.
It is no secret that the Rossoneri have been dealing with many injuries this season, which mainly affected their defenders.
Simon Kjaer and Matteo Gabbia, who returned from a loan spell at Villarreal in January, are the only fit centre-backs available for the Serie A giants, but Thiaw will soon return to action.
According to the report, the German defender will be available against Monza on February 18, so Pioli will be able to rely on a regular starter again in the second part of the campaign.
Thiaw suffered a hamstring muscle injury in December, missing 17 games across all competitions with the Rossoneri.
Fikayo Tomori and Pierre Kalulu will take a little longer to return to action but will likely resume training with the rest of the team before the end of February, according to Gazzetta.
