The reasons behind his absence are not yet known, nor is it clear whether he’ll be at the Stadio Scida tomorrow, travelling at a later date.
According to Sky Sport Italia, Fonseca had gastroenteritis this morning and was not feeling at 100 per cent, even though he held his usual press conference.
It is possible he stayed behind to meet with new director of sport Tiago Pinto, who arrived this morning to begin his job.
