Brazilian club Flamengo have again made it clear that they would like to re-sign Roma centre-back Juan.
The 32-year-old joined Flamengo’s youth system in 1989 as 10-year-old and remained until his 2002 switch to Bayer Leverkusen.
“Juan is like our first love and we’ll continue to flirt with him,” Flamengo Vice-President Rafael De Piro noted.
“We’ve tried to sign him in the past,” he continued. “Maybe this will be the right time to actually do a deal…
“However, we are just talking at the moment and there is nothing concrete.”
Juan, who moved to Italy from Germany in 2007, has endured a problematic campaign in terms of fitness and form.
So far he’s only appeared in six Serie A games under new boss Luis Enrique – and he’s been subbed in two of them.
Juan’s contract at the Stadio Olimpico will expire in June 2013 and it’s unclear whether he will be offered a renewal.
