Cesare Natali’s agent has confirmed “he will not sign a renewal with Fiorentina,” advising Milan to pounce on the defender.
The Rossoneri will be without Mario Yepes for around 10 weeks due to a right ankle injury, while Philippe Mexes and Alessandro Nesta continue to have their own fitness concerns.
“I can say that the lad has not accepted Fiorentina’s conditions for a contract renewal,” agent Mino Raiola told La Nazione.
“Would he like to join Milan? Well, certainly his wife is from Milan. We will have to wait and see what happens.”
The 32-year-old is a free agent at the end of the season, so the Viola do not want to risk losing him for nothing.
Natali would represent an experienced temporary reinforcement for the back four at San Siro and is eligible for the Champions League, should he be needed.
It would still be a cheap transfer operation, costing under €1m.
Meanwhile, there was more bad news for Milan, whose youth team star striker Kingsley Boateng has torn both the anterior cruciate and lateral ligaments in his left knee.
It is particularly worrying, as the teenager already underwent surgery for a similar problem to his right knee.
