Fiorentina step up chase for De Paul?

Fiorentina are reportedly prepared to step up the chase for Udinese midfielder Rodrigo de Paul, who has rejected a move to Zenit St Petersburg to stay in Italy.

La Nazione claims the Viola are ready to compete for De Paul’s signature, but Napoli are still mentioned as possible suitors for the Friuli playmaker.

De Paul, who arrived from Valencia in July 2016, has been linked with a host of Italian clubs this season and has reportedly turned down offers from England and Russia.

Leeds United were reportedly in talks with the Argentine too, but the 26-year-old, who has played 146 competitive games for the Bianconeri, is still hoping to find an interesting option in Serie A.

Udinese have been asking €40m for the attacking midfielder, who has contributed 25 goals and 25 assists during his time at the Dacia Arena.
