Fiorentina extend Fernandez deal

Mati Fernandez has extended his Fiorentina contract until 30 June 2018, the club have announced.

La Viola confirmed the extension for the Chilean playmaker shortly after the announcement that his teammate Marcos Alonso had also signed a new deal.

The Chile international’s contract was due to expire in the summer but he has been handed a two-year extension.

“Fiorentina announce that an agreement has been reached for the contract renewal of Matias Fernandez,” read a statement on Fiorentina’s website.

“Fernandez arrived at Fiorentina in the 2012/13 season and has made 119 appearances between Serie A and the Europa League and scored six goals as well as 68 appearances for the Chile national team.

“The Chilean player has signed a contract that will tie him to the club until 30 June 2018.”
