The 24-year-old, who can play at full-back, on the wing, as an attacking midfielder and as a striker, was in Florence this evening talking to reporters and taking a medical ahead of the move.

Cuadrado joins Fiorentina on an initial one-year loan deal, with a €5m fee believed to be in place for La Viola to take co-ownership of the player next summer if they so wish.

The transfer was confirmed via a brief statement on the club’s official website.

“Fiorentina announces that it has acquired, on loan with the right to redemption, the playing rights of footballer Juan Guillermo Cuadrado, from Udinese.”
