Fiorentina are reportedly close to striking a deal for 20-year-old Rosario Central midfielder Gino Infantino.
According to Sportitalia, a basic agreement has been reached for €4m and they are now working on the details of the transfer.
The attacking midfielder only turned 20 in May and has represented Argentina at various youth levels, including 10 caps and one goal for the Under-20 team.
As the name would suggest, Infantino has Italian heritage and can therefore be registered as an EU player.
His contract with Rosario Central only runs to December 2024 and he scored one goal, providing one assist in 17 Superliga matches this season.
Primarily an attacking midfielder, Infantino can also play on the left side or in a more advanced trequartista role behind the strikers.
He had also been linked with River Plate in recent weeks.
This is not to be considered a replacement for Sofyan Amrabat, who is close to Manchester United, because he has different characteristics to the Morocco international.
