Sampdoria President Massimo Ferrero insists they were “totally superior to Napoli” despite a 1-1 draw.
The notoriously outlandish patron was in the stands with a Samp scarf wrapped round his head, but then resorted to munching on it after the equaliser. Did it taste bitter?
“Sweet. I can only say it was a great performance, we were totally superior to Napoli and I can say these lads deserved three points,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“Sweet. I can only say it was a great performance, we were totally superior to Napoli and I can say these lads deserved three points,” he told Sky Sport Italia.
“We deserved a victory, but this is football and I go home having believed. I would’ve been happier if I’d left two minutes from the end.
“You all saw with your eyes those 11 lions on the field and Aurelio De Laurentiis was lucky. We beat them on the pitch.
“We dominated for 90 minutes! I believed and we will make up for it next time! Thanks to our heart and Aurelio’s luck, a point each suits everyone!”
Ferrero was asked whether Sampdoria would bring Antonio Cassano back to the club in January, considering Parma’s problems.
“I love Cassano, but you’d have to ask him.”
