Ferrero: ‘Cassano won’t leave!’

Sampdoria President Massimo Ferrero admits Antonio Cassano is refusing to leave the club.

The Blucerchiati have made it clear that the forward has no future at Marassi, leaving him out of their Serie A squad and banning him from the dressing room.

However, FantAntonio is insistent that he’ll stay for the final year of his contract, much the patron’s despair.

“He decided to train alone and play the victim,” Ferrero lamented on Radio Crc.

“I don't understand it, he's a nice lad but he's been badly advised. No-one can say he's not a good player, why not go and play?

“He doesn't talk to me, it's like he's retaliating against Sampdoria. Someone who loves the team doesn't do things like this.

“In June we shook hands and he told me he'd leave after the change of Coach: [Vincenzo] Montella left and Cassano is still there.

“He's no longer part of Sampdoria, but he rejects any solution and I can't understand why. He's out of the squad, and that should serve as a lesson: gratitude is not optional. He should go to [Virtus] Entella or Spezia and take them to Serie A.

“The only mistake I made was bringing him to Sampdoria.”

Vlad Chiriches had been linked with a deadline day move to Samp, but Ferrero admits it won't happen.

"I asked for him, but De Laurentiis is holding him. I have concluded 59 transfers between incoming and outgoing and I'm exhausted."
