Inter director general Marco Fassone has discussed the club’s Financial Fair Play hearing, and expects a final decision by next spring.
Inter are one of seven clubs being investigated for a potential breach of Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules and have representatives in Nyon today to meet with UEFA.
The ruling was adopted in 2009 and with the aim of preventing professional football clubs spending more than they earn in pursuit of success, and by doing so endangering their own long-term survival. The other clubs being investigated are Roma, Liverpool, Monaco, Besiktas, Krasnodar and Sporting Lisbon.
“It’s important to clarify, we are the seven clubs invited by UEFA,” Fassone told Inter Channel.
“Not the seven worst, but seven who didn’t take part in European competition last year and therefore weren’t called.
“Financial Fair Play means clubs which compete in continental tournaments are obliged to have their budgets in order and minimise losses.
“Unfortunately, we’re one of the clubs which haven’t been able to comply with these parameters in the last three years, so we were called for a meeting with UEFA.
“On the one hand we can explain what happened in the last three years, and on the other what we plan to do in future to comply with Financial Fair Play laws.
“The meeting on Friday is with the investigating commission, not the judge. They will gather a dossier, starting a process which will take several months where clubs will work alongside UEFA, with the conclusions probably announced next spring.”
