FIGC Commissioner Roberto Fabbricini admits “there is a financial aspect to be respected” when choosing the new Italy Coach, “but we rule nobody out.”
The Nazionale still don’t have a CT in place after sacking Gian Piero Ventura in November, so Under-21 boss Gigi Di Biagio is in the caretaker role for two friendlies.
He lost the first 2-0 to Argentina and takes on England at Wembley this evening, but other candidates include Carlo Ancelotti, Antonio Conte and Roberto Mancini.

He lost the first 2-0 to Argentina and takes on England at Wembley this evening, but other candidates include Carlo Ancelotti, Antonio Conte and Roberto Mancini.
“Let’s allow Di Biagio to finish this second game, which he deserves,” Fabbricini told reporters in Rome.
“It’s another very tough match that can help us find our confidence in the journey ahead. There was a setback in failing to qualify for the World Cup, but the bond of passionate support has not been broken, we just need to strengthen it a little.
“We must make a decision with calm and we rule nobody out who is already in the running.”
The Azzurri could be forced to contend with Paris Saint-Germain if Conte leaves Chelsea, as the Ligue 1 giants are reportedly offering €11m per year.
“We read about that in the papers, but there are contracts still valid and we must maintain international diplomacy by not interfering, then we’ll evaluate the figure that is available.
“I also wish to remind everyone that there is a financial aspect to be respected.
“We are all convinced that this Federation can get back on track. We want to do good work so that by the end of the year we’ll be able to give back governance.”
Not only is there no new Coach, but the Federation also doesn’t have a President after failing to elect a new chief, so the entire FIGC was placed under a Commissioner.
