Napoli famously keep possession better than most other sides in Italy, yet Empoli had 53 per cent of the ball by the final whistle.

They also completed 511 passes compared to 493 for Ancelotti’s men.

The visitors also had 11 shots, four of them on target and scoring only with Francesco Caputo, and took seven corner kicks compared to none at all for Napoli.
