Elmas agent ‘talking to Napoli and other clubs’

Eljif Elmas has a contract with Napoli until 2025, but his agent admits they are negotiating a new deal, but at the same time ‘talking to clubs who are very interested’ in signing the midfielder.

Elmas is a versatile player who can cover several different roles and is used largely as a substitute at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, first by Luciano Spalletti and now Rudi Garcia.

He starred for North Macedonia in Saturday’s 1-1 draw in Skopje against Italy and that further cemented his reputation on the international stage.

“There has been a great deal of speculation recently, but the truth is that only I and Eljif’s father are official representatives and we are the only ones who can negotiate about his future,” agent Nikola Gjosevski told CalcioNapoli24.

Elmas is under contract with Napoli until June 2025, so in theory he should not be able to discuss his situation with other clubs, but that is a very common approach on the transfer market anyway.

“I can confirm we are in negotiations with Napoli to renew the contract, but we are also talking to clubs who are very interested in Elmas. We’ll see what the future brings.”

He will turn 24 later this month and was snapped up from Fenerbahce for €16.2m plus bonuses in the summer of 2019.

So far in his Napoli career, Elmas has made 175 competitive appearances, contributing 17 goals and 11 assists.
