Dzeko: ‘Roma gain confidence’

Edin Dzeko hopes the 4-0 triumph over Lecce can give Roma “a little more confidence going into the next matches,” starting from KAA Gent.

It was a much-needed result after one point from the previous four Serie A rounds, including three consecutive defeats.

Cengiz Under opened the scoring, while Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Aleksandar Kolarov and Dzeko all contributed both a goal and assist.

“We scored four goals, kept a clean sheet, so we can say the last two games have been good,” Dzeko told Sky Sport Italia.

“We’ve got a little more confidence going into the next matches now. Thursday’s victory against Gent gave us more belief, as we hadn’t won in a while, and now we got back to winning ways in Serie A too.

“This evening, we gave everything from start to finish. It’s too long, two months without a Serie A home win. I don’t like to talk about what has been, I prefer to focus on going forward with greater confidence.”

The second leg of the Europa League Round of 32 is on Thursday.

“We won 1-0 at home, which is an important result in Europe, and will go to Belgium now trying to win, but in any case qualifying for the next round.”
