Denzel Dumfries maintains Inter ‘showed a lot of character and were fighting to the last moment’ in their 2-1 win away to Lecce, while welcoming back ‘world class’ Romelu Lukaku.
Lukaku had made an immediate impact at the Stadio Via del Mare, just as he had done in August 2019 on his absolute Serie A debut, finding the net from close range within 82 seconds.

“Of course the most important thing is we took the three points. Compliments also to Lecce they defend very good, but I think we deserve the win today,” Dumfries told Sky Sport Italia.
“I think that last year we dropped too many points in this type of match, but we showed a lot of character today and deserved to win, as we were fighting to the last moment of the match.”
The return of Lukaku has already made a difference to Inter, just one year after he walked away for Chelsea.
“It’s very important that he came back. He is a world class striker, I am happy he is in the squad.”
