Former Juventus winger Douglas Costa, a new Sydney FC player, jokes about Alessandro Del Piero’s return to the club: ‘I’d like to play with him.’

The Brazilian winger was unveiled as a new Sydney signing on October 16.

Sydney FC is the team Del Piero played for after leaving Juventus in 2012.

The Italian legend spent two seasons at the club, scoring 24 goals in 48 appearances.

“I don’t get the pressure because there is only one Ale Del Piero—he’s the only one,” said Douglas Costa at his unveiling press conference.

“I’m never going to compare myself to him. He was also my idol at Juventus. And if he wants to come back, I’d like to play with him as well,” he concluded, smiling.

Douglas Costa played for Juventus from 2017 to 2020, scoring ten goals in 103 appearances.
