Federico Dimarco maintains Inter will not be affected by the atmosphere when facing Atletico Madrid in the Champions League. ‘We must play with our usual mentality.’

The first leg went 1-0 to the Nerazzurri thanks to a Marko Arnautovic goal and a place in the quarter-finals will be decided at the Wanda Metropolitano on Wednesday at 20.00 GMT.

“The result is a minimal one, so we must not make the mistake of thinking that would be enough. We must play with our usual mentality, starting from 0-0 and taking our usual approach,” Dimarco told Sky Sport Italia and in the press conference.

“We know the Atletico Madrid fans, even seeing the games on television you can sense the atmosphere, but it’ll be similar to what they experienced at San Siro. It will be an enjoyable atmosphere for everyone involved in the match.”

Inter are on remarkable form, winning all 13 competitive games played in 2024 between Serie A, the Supercoppa Italiana and Champions League.

It has sent them 16 points clear at the top of the Serie A table.

“We must have the same mentality we did throughout the season, staying solid and trying to bring home a positive result. I think in the Champions League we must always try to play the same at home as we do away.”

Having reached the Champions League Final last season in Istanbul, are Inter targeting the Double?

“We certainly want to go all the way, but there is a very tough game coming up.”
