Di Francesco: ‘Sassuolo injury problems’

Eusebio Di Francesco admits “the many injured players" are impacting Sassuolo.

The Neroverdi face Rapid Vienna in the Europa League tomorrow, but they won’t be able to make wholesale changes.

“It’s a delicate moment for us, the many injured players mean I can’t choose,” Di Francesco sighed, speaking to Sky.

“We have 13 outfield players available, so that tells you all you need to know about the difficulties we’re facing.

“The ability that the lads have to adapt is an important motivation to grow from our point of view, unfortunately at the moment our usual formation, 4-3-3, isn’t feasible with the guys we have available.

“If we were to return to our natural shape then of course we could do it, we know it by heart. I’m a daredevil but not a fool, I try to put my players in a position to do their best.”
