“We must always be Sassuolo, with our mentality and our idea of football. We are facing players of great quality, but can make up for that gap with determination.”
That quality has increased with the arrival of Cerci on loan from Atletico Madrid and the ex-Torino winger could make his Rossoneri debut.
“I know him very well, as I was at Roma when he started out. Cerci is an excellent player and an irritating one for opponents, as he combines technique with pace. Obviously he hasn’t played much recently, so I don’t know if he’ll take part. I hope from the next game after this he’ll be one of Milan’s best players!”
Sassuolo need to get back on track, as they ended 2014 dropping points by throwing away leads and conceding late goals.
“The last three games left a bitter taste in the mouth, so the team needs to improve in its focus and maturity in some situations. People often say to kick the ball long when under pressure, but that’s the wrong idea, because the more you keep the ball, the less your opponents can play.”
Sime Vrsaljko is a late absentee from the squad, as he is on compassionate leave following a death in the family.
Gianluca Pegolo and Saphir Taider also miss out.
