Eusebio Di Francesco admits “I don’t know what my future will be” after a “difficult season” for Sassuolo.
The Neroverdi qualified for the Europa League last season, but are currently struggling down in 16th-place.
“Are win a poor position? Yes, definitely, but we have to analyse what happened,” Di Francesco pointed out on Radio Anch'io Sport.
“We’re not used to Europe, and then we had seven or eight important players out. We can’t afford to have players like [Domenico] Berardi out for four months, for example.
“It’s been a particular year, this is a club which needs to grow and also to get past these errors. I’m getting players back after long injuries and that’s making a difference.
“It takes patience and time, but it hasn’t just been a difficult season for me in particular.
“Will I stay? There are assessments to be made and I’m happy here. I don’t know what my future will be, now we just have to think of Sassuolo and recover the points we dropped.”
Berardi is widely expected to leave in the summer, does Di Francesco think the forward will move on?
“I’ve seen him grow up and I know his value. There have been rumours about his professionalism with this injury, but they’re nonsense.
“He’s a great lad, and a professional of the highest level.
“It’s important though that you don’t confuse Sassuolo with a top Italian club, we’ve done extraordinary things but it’s not the same.
“I can assure you that Berardi was ready to make the step-up two years ago, he stayed and he probably only did so because he’s attached to me and to Sassuolo.”
