Di Carlo: ‘Spezia dream continues’

Mimmo Di Carlo told Spezia to “enjoy the moment and the dream continues” after eliminating Roma from the Coppa Italia.

The Serie B side went through to the quarter-finals on penalties following a 0-0 draw at the Stadio Olimpico.

“I compliment the squad because we played the game we were supposed to, slowing the tempo and closing down spaces for Roma,” the Coach told Rai Sport.

The Serie B side went through to the quarter-finals on penalties following a 0-0 draw at the Stadio Olimpico.

“I compliment the squad because we played the game we were supposed to, slowing the tempo and closing down spaces for Roma,” the Coach told Rai Sport.

“We were faced with a Roma side that could cause us problems at any moment, but we remained compact and everything went well.

“Roma didn’t play at their best, but Spezia deserve praise for forcing them to play that way.

“This is the right team, they follow my suggestions. We must enjoy the moment, because we deserved it. The dream continues.”

Spezia have an excellent chance of reaching the semi-finals, as they go up against Lega Pro outfit Alessandria in the quarters next month.

“We’ll play on our own turf and it will be an historic moment that all of Spezia must enjoy. For the moment we have to focus on Serie B, though.”
