“The trend for this club has changed, though to be honest it was already a long way into that process the summer I arrived to replace Gigi Del Neri,” said Di Carlo.
“I don’t want to think back to that game with Werder Bremen. At times campaigns don’t go well for various reasons.
“I was disappointed at being sacked by Sampdoria. At that moment they were looking for someone to blame, but usually this club is the ideal working environment.”
He now has a very difficult task to avoid relegation at Cesena, who are third from bottom, but seven points adrift of the safety zone.
“I told my lads to keep believing more and more, because eight games are a lot and there are still 24 points up for grabs.
“We must have our mentality and style, mixing determination with the right performance. I was angry on Sunday, because we came so close to winning and instead lost to Chievo.
“Sampdoria are a side who play pro-active football always and changed their mentality through hard work.”
