In a bizarre twist, on Friday the official Milan Twitter account announced Deulofeu would be joining on loan, but took the story back down after Everton complained.
Yesterday Rossoneri CEO Adriano Galliani made it clear he was giving a diplomatic answer: “I have been authorised to say that the negotiations are continuing. That is all I am allowed to say right now, so that’s what I’ll say.”
According to Tuttosport, the Spaniard will arrive in Italy today and undergo his medical tomorrow before signing the contract.
It’s set to be a dry six-month loan with no option to buy and Everton will pocket €750,000.
Deulofeu has apparently already chosen to wear shirt Number 7 and could be on the bench for Wednesday’s Coppa Italia quarter-final with Juventus.
