Milan have moved quickly after failing to sign Mehdi Taremi, picking up Luka Jovic from Fiorentina in a unique deal.
“AC Milan is delighted to announce the signing of Luka Jović on a permanent transfer. The Serbian striker has signed a contract with the Club until 30 June 2024.”
The player has chosen the Number 15 jersey.
The Rossoneri have been looking for a striker to pair with the 36-year-old Olivier Giroud all summer but have been unable to secure their targets, leaving them in an awkward spot in the closing stages of the transfer window.
Milan finally signed a new striker on transfer deadline day, picking up Jovic from Fiorentina. The 25-year-old has been frozen out of Vincenzo Italiano’s project and hasn’t featured in any of their first four matches of the season.
Milan have now officially deposited Jovic’s contract to Lega Serie A, signing him on a free transfer from Fiorentina on a one-year deal, paying him €2.5m net per season. The club will take on the 50% future resale clause with Real Madrid, something that was agreed for his initial transfer to the Viola.
Jovic failed to live up to expectations with Los Blancos following his high-profile move from Eintracht Frankfurt, and left for Florence last summer on a free transfer.
