Alessandro Del Piero sympathises with Francesco Totti’s “difficult situation” at Roma.
The Giallorossi captain appears unlikely to be offered a new contract at the end of the season, and could leave the club after 753 appearances.
The situation has been compared in many circles to that of Del Piero at Juventus, as he wasn’t offered a new deal in 2012 and moved to Sydney FC after 19 seasons in Turin.
“I feel close to my ex-Italy teammate,” Pinturicchio told Il Secolo XIX.

“I know from experience that his situation is a difficult one to deal with from the inside. Regardless of how it ends though, I think he’ll be one of those players who will always represent the team he played for.”
Del Piero was also asked about his former teammate Vincenzo Montella, who is currently Coach of Sampdoria.
“He was a great teammate, we always got on very well. Beyond his extraordinary talent, he always showed himself to be very intelligent.
“It doesn’t surprise me that he went for a career as a Coach, it’s a challenging job, very different, it takes a lot of thinking.
“I wish him good luck and I hope to see him soon.”
Finally, the Bianconeri legend was asked about Genoa goalkeeper Mattia Perin, who has been sidelined with a cruciate ligament injury, as the former striker was in 1998.
“I’m very sorry for Perin,” Del Piero said.
“But he’s a young lad, with extraordinary talent. I hope he can focus well on his recovery, he has all he time to do it and surprise us again like he’s done already.”
