“I’ve seen the great passion of the owner [Giorgio] Squinzi, he loves football,” De Zerbi told the gathered media.
“He tries to find out about and understand the tactical strategies and the idea of the game. As for objectives, we’ll decipher those when the pitch tells us the value of our squad.
“Berardi is a very important player, he’s had a natural decline phase but he scored 31 goals in his first two years in Serie A. No-one had done that before.
“If he stays with enthusiasm then I’ll be happy, it’s hard to find a player like him. If his choice is different then the club will take care of it. He’s a good lad.
“Boateng? He’s a quality player, and quality players have to play. I know him well, he’s intelligent, mature and strong and he can play different roles.”
De Zerbi has been given a three month ban by the FIGC for financial irregularities when he was at Foggia…

“I have good reason to be acquitted and there will be an appeal, I don’t agree with the sentence but I’m obliged to accept it.
