Inter defender Stefan de Vrij confirms negotiations over a new contract with the Nerazzurri are ongoing and claims Romelu Lukaku and Nicolò Barella ‘immediately cleared the air.’
The Nerazzurri stars argued at Marassi in the first half of a 0-0 draw against Sampdoria on Monday.
“I hadn’t noticed it, I found out during the break,” De Vrij told DAZN after the match.
“They immediately cleared the air, now we must look forward.”
The Dutch defender’s contract expires at the end of the season and the Nerazzurri have made their offer to extend his stay at the Stadio Meazza.
“We are in talks and we are on excellent terms, which is the most important thing,” said De Vrij.
The Nerazzurri are now 15 points clear below leaders Napoli in the Serie A table and only four points below Atalanta, Roma and Milan who are battling for a top-four finish.
De Vrij joined Inter as a free agent from Lazio in 2018 and has scored nine goals in 186 appearances with the Nerazzurri.
He has won a Serie A title, two Supercoppa and a Coppa Italia at San Siro and was named best Serie A defender in 2019-20.
